Why Block Paving?

Block paving also known as brick paving is a very popular method to create hardstanding area's and features, whilst also being very decorative. The method is basically that lots of individual bricks are laid next to one another in either a straight line or a curved design, so they will not move. Many different options exist and JMC Services will discuss, plan and prepare the surface of the ground and then lay the blocks on the ground and 'build' the block paving into the desired effect.

There are certain rules to follow and specific patterns need to be constructed to ensure a uniform pattern and strong base.

They are extremely decorative and will be created to enhance the surroundings, their colour blending in with any existing brickwork or buildings.

Block Paving is designed so that individual bricks can be lifted and replaced if necessary, should any become damaged, and this creates a flexible, hardwearing surface. JMC Services can lay block paving for homes, businesses, commercial properties, pedestrian areas with high footfall, precincts, pavements, even as a road surface for private roads and entrances.

Block paving bricks are usually made from concrete or clay. They can be laid at either 45 or 90 degrees.

The most usual pattern laid is herringbone which is perhaps the strongest because of the way the bricks interlock with one another, so it is usually this pattern used for driveways or roads, to help take the weight of vehicles.
